New Actor, New Character For THE WALKING DEAD: Season 2

Entertainment Weekly has stated that Rescue Me actor, Michael Zegen has been added to the cast for The Walking Dead: Season 2. They've reported he'll be playing a character name "Randall" who is new to The Walking Dead franchise and hasn't been in the famed comic series. "Randall is described as a skinny Southern kid who finds himself in a rather unique set of post-apocalypse circumstances." Look for the new season on AMC, Sunday October 16th.

I have not read the comics (mainly because they are too expenve for me), but why would they deviate from them by adding a new character? I loved the first season, and I cannot wait for the next one... Also, its on Oct. 16??? I thought it would premiere on Halloween again like last time..
