Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to the world of horror with a new project titled “The Final Girls.” However, "Final Girls" will not be available as a theatrical release. The word is that it is going to be a televion show airing on ABC Family. Jamie Lee Curtis and Steve Miner (“Halloween H20″) are working together once again to bring a new horror based product to ABC Family. Curtis will be starring in the series and Steve Miner will be producing and directing."The series will “revolve around a group of girls who have, in essence, survived their own personal horror stories, and are brought together by a mysterious older woman (Curtis) to channel the stress and scars of their experience for some greater good. “
And while the pairing of Curtis and Miner makes sense, bringing the show to ABC Family might seem a little odd to some people.
However, Steve Miner has actually had a long and prolific relationship with the seemingly family oriented network.
Over the years he’s directed numerous pilots and series for the network.
Also, not that I know this from personal experience, but the channel has had a strong focus on teenage female-driven dramas. So, really, the marriage of “The Final Girls” and ABC Family makes a lot of sense.
The show seems to be in the very early stages of development.
So early that a pilot hasn’t even been ordered by ABC Family.
Rumors are that it could be fast tracked into development very soon.
Given that the TV horror genre market is still profitable (see: Sleepy Hollow), We might just see this new show on ABC Family as it would seem that they would want to get on this as soon as posble."Dont Forget! Spread The Word! Horrorbid.com soon Xenomorphs into HorrorDomain.com
