A Big Update On The ASH VS. EVIL DEAD TV Series - Bruce Campbell Speaks!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

Not too long ago we brought you the news that Sam Raimi was working on a television project and then last month we learned that the EVIL DEAD is officially coming to TV! Starz picked up the new series which will be titled ASH VS. EVIL DEAD. It will be a follow up to Raimi's EVIL DEAD films and will feature an older Ash and will be made up of 10 half hour episodes. Bruce Campbell will be reprising the role of Ash. Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi, and Tom Spezialy all are writing with Sam set to direct the first episode.

EW referred to the upcoming show as "one of the most anticipated shows of next year." Calling it a “half-hour horror comedy where Ash takes a road trip to banish his demons alongside two young helpers and his trusty boomstick.”

In the same issue Bruce Campbell spoke in an interview saying that a follow up film would have been too expensive adding that:

"In the format of a TV show, we could give people exactly what they wanted and expand the character and the story even more.”

In regards to he and Raimi's return:

“The [fan reaction to the 2013 Evil Dead remake] was all ‘Yeah, yeah, that was nice fellas, but we still want the real deal.’ This is it.”

His thoughts on Ash in the modern day:

“Ash has survivor’s guilt… He’s a war vet. He doesn’t want to talk about and he’ll like about that stump on his hand to impress the ladies. That’s what I look forward to playing—a guy with horrible flaws.”

ASH VS. EVIL DEAD will debut on Starz sometime in 2015.
