The Very Latest On THE EXORCIST TV Series!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

Back in 1973 the world saw the release of one of the most terrifying films ever made to date, THE EXORCIST. The movie became the measuring stick for all possession flicks after its release. With all of the remakes and adaptations going on these days, it was only a matter of time before the same was done to this classic story.

Back at the beginning of this year Fox ordered a pilot episode that was to be inspired by William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel, "The Exorcist." The pilot was said to be a "modern reinvention" of the novel.

Fox must have really liked what they saw in the pilot episode as we have just learned that they have put in a series order for THE EXORCIST. So that means that it will not be too long until we see the show playing out on our television screens.

Rupert Wyatt directed the pilot episode. Wyatt is known for helming RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. Jeremy Slater has the task of writing the script.

"More than four decades after the Academy Award-nominated film solidified itself as the greatest horror movie ever made, The Exorcist returns in series format as a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession."

Brianne Howey stars in the series as a girl who may be possessed. Hannah Kasulka will play her wallflower sister. Geena Davis will take on the role of a woman plagued by nightmares of a demon. Ben Daniels, Alfonso Herrera, and Kurt Egyiawan will be portraying priests.

At this time there is no indication as to when THE EXORCIST might be premiering.

We will continue to keep you updated as we hear it.
