As things get closer to the ninth season of AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD, a cloud of mystery covers the situation as fans can only wonder what will be happening. We know that Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, is all set to leave the show after just six episodes into the new season. We will also be seeing the departure of Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie as well.
It now looks as though Jon Bernthal, who played Rick's friend-turned-nemesis Shane Walsh back in the first two seasons, will be making an appearance on the show in some form as Shane TVLine confirms. There is much speculation that this would be a flashback scene, possibly with Rick, as Shane was killed by Rick in Season 2.
With the Rick character leaving, this opens the door for Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon to step up to the forefront of the show. Reedus has reportedly been offered a huge amount of money to stay on board.
THE WALKING DEAD returns this fall on AMC.
