HALLOWEEN 3D And The Iconic Michael Myers Mask?

Who better than us (probably dozens of other quality tes), right here at HorrorBid, are qualified to start discusng HALLOWEEN 3D now that after weeks of speculation the film indeed does have a locked in release date for October 26th, 2012. Take all of the rumors and and mess of the last few weeks and put them to bed. We knew the film was an official go and regardless of whether you heard it first or not is no longer the point. The film is going to happen and has the slasher crowd and horror fans in general buzzing about what the plot for H3D might be.

In all accounts what we know is that direction Patrick Luser and Todd Farmer will be behind the scenes crafting the film into what they have said to be a film that picks up after Rob Zombie HALLOWEEN 2 and quickly takes the series back to "John Carpenter's roots".

What that exactly means is unknown but it has fans stirring and not surpringly wondering what will happen to the infamous "white mask" made famous by the latex masked used in the original HALLOWEEN from 1978 that was a converted Don Post "Captain Kirk" mask that was produced by the legendary mask company in 1975.

While plot details are unknown the bigger question for many Bidites out there and collectors alike is what will the mask look like in H3D. As any HALLOWEEN fan will admit, Michael Myers without the mask is as unimaginable as Jason Voorhees without his hock or Freddy Kruger without his razor glove. The one small problem is, at the end of Zombie's H2 regardless of what exactly happened to Michael Myers, the mask is nearly completely rotten to the core and falling apart. Will the film-makers stay with that look or will Mike be looking for a new mask to cover his years of needing to remain hidden from societies judging eyes?

Lets face it. In past HALLOWEEN movies the mask has changed as much as the story-lines themselves so having Myers pick up a new mask is not out of the question. If the really ground this in reality would it be posble that Mike just so happens to run into someone with a milar "white mask" like in the original or could we see Mike ditch the white mask completely and go for something different? After all, in Zombie's original re-imagining the paper mache orange "pumpkin" mask was a big hit amongst fans but we can't imagine a film that is being touted as going back to "Carpetner's roots" and not seeing Michael Myers returning to Haddonfiled with his trusty piece of white latex in tow.

Obviously we have no idea the direction that the film-makers will eventually take but that is where you Bidites come in. What are your speculations for the third installment in the remade series and what would you like to see? We want to hear your thoughts.Traditional 1978 Michael Myers Mask

Personally I dont have

high hopes after the zombie movies!! I might be

one of the few that hated both verons of the remakes H1 and H2. I dont know how they are going to carry over after tha fact from zombies 2nd one , but go back to JC's original roots

for the film. I do know this i hated the rotted mask in H2!! I am a diehard Halloween fan and i never liked any of the other masks past the first two Halloween films. It would be great if like you said Michael some how found another mask worn by another individual!! Remember number two when they thought they found michael on the street and it turned out to be just a kid dressed like him and getting the unfortunate demise of being smashed by a car and burned alive. If tyhey were somehow to pull off theat Michael found an H78 mask and wore it....well that just gives me goosebumps))) I wont cash in my chips yet and i am always willing to give the guys another chance and see if they acutally can please the fans, because after the last one i believe the franchise should have died!!!

I also wanna add that I hope in some werid way Loomis survives and is transformed back to the man he should have always been all alonge..I know i sound stupid when I say this cause zombie really had him stabed in a way to wear no one would survive it...but let us not for get the old loomis who took a masve exsploon and lived in the old part 2.....so would be to far out to see loomis return with alot of scares in H3D.....

I love the original Halloween movies (all except for Season of the Witch) and I did enjoy H1 but I have yet to see the remade H2. I am however interested in seeing H3D.. no matter how much I wish they'd ditch the 3D and just go back to good ol' 2D movies.

As for the mask, well... the rotted veron didn't send chills down my spine. And as funny as that sounds, that is what I have always loved about the original '78 mask - it scared me and to this day makes me uneasy. When I see someone wearing that mask on Halloween, I will literally avoid being near them. It's just eerie, and shouldn't be forsaken for a new idea.

Original or rotted,or somewhere in between....just keep him in the white mask!Anything else would not suffice.

RZ's Halloween films were awesome. Well acted, well shot and brutal. Tyler Mane was the best Myers nce Warlock and Toth's masks were the best nce Warlock. As much as I liked them though, Id like to see the next film start from scratch. A reboot, maybe some changes to the story line here or there, but the majority of Carpenter's vion left in tact. I also hope the film is written by and directed by a solid team. I do NOT like the names mentioned thus far.

i just hope that they really keep the film to carpenters roots as they say . as for the mask they should just go with the butcher mask from nightowl that would be awesome

im kinda hoping they ditch michael myers alltogether and have Angel myers be the killer! and then you make a badass costume for her but much like michael kept seeing Debbi myers (his mom) in his head maybe Angel Myers can see michael telling her what to do.... i think that would be original and scary, Scout Talyor-Compton could be an awesome slasher and you dont see many girls hacking people up

The last thing I want is Scout or any other character assuming the main role in HALLOWEEN. Michael is iconic, theres no way they should deviate from the main theme.

Ooooookay. I'm thinkin that it's probably best NOT to stick with Rob's rotted mask, just because...well...it'll be gone soon anyway. They wouldn't dare change the iconic look for the mask, it's a staple of the series all together. I can only hope that they come up with some clever way for him to get a new one. Or they could just

give him a new one and not explain it. Who cares!?

We all know the original Halloween 3 was lame (well, i guess it depends who you are, but the gnificant LACK of Michael was definitely a major disappointment for me). All i can say is that if this truly returns to Carpenter's roots, it has the potential to be pretty great. The problem, however, is that fans of Rob's Halloweens are going to be looking for some more Zombie-esque filmography. I know plenty of people who were never fans of the originals, but LOVE Rob's re-imaginings. I happen to be in that mix that loves both.

It's all up in the air.

I think we can all agree Carpenters original veron is hands down the best. Tinkering with such an iconic part of the Halloween franchise is extremely dangerous. A huge portion of Michael's character is defined by the mask. Give him a cheap costume store knock off and it becomes very difficult to take him seriously as a soulless killing machine (See Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers... or better yet don't) I thought Zombie's "rotted" veron was a nice touch on his take of the story. I appreciated the mixture of new and old. However the half misng mask worn in H2 was a disaster, albeit a small disaster when compared to what was the overall train wreck of a movie. I kept finding myself thinking "Is Jonathan Loughran

from Little Nicky under that mask?"

(He's the guy in the middle in case you aren't one of the 7 people in the world who actually know who Jonathan Loughran is. I had to Google him too)

I have yet to see the remade H2.

Avoid it. It's dreadful! Rob Zombie should be shot in the face for making that abomination.

PLEASE! GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL MASK DEGN! The "rotted" mask sucks! They NEED to start over from scratch. Also, GET CARPENTER INVOLVED!

I also haven't seen it, and I hope that I never do. Just the pics of a hobo wearing the half Myers mask is too much for me.
