Film vs. Literature: Dean Koontz's Phantoms

It’s time for our third venture into the realm of “Film vs. Literature”, and this week I’ve got a target on deck that’s absolutely sure to cause some heated debate, Dean Koontz’s Phantoms. While the novel earned major praise from critics, the feature length film failed to do so... miserably.

Another great article on a book that I absolutely love. I 100% agree that I didn't want it to end. When thinking of the movie, though, I'm not even sure if I've seen it. When I see pictures of it I remember some of the parts so I think I may have seen it, but it was so unmemorable that I've forgotten it. I can still vividly remember parts of the book, but the movie is so far gone I'm not even sure I've seen it!

The movie was god awful but I did like the part where they were at the hotel/inn and Patsy Cline's "I Fall to Pieces" played, but in all honesty the book had so much going on that its just wasnt fesable to make it a movie.

I loved the book, it is still one that I read over and over and never get tired of and the book scared me when I first read it in 6th grade.

there was definitely a lot going on in the book, however, they could have ealy incorporated a few more of the hideous disguises the shape shifter takes on. It really wouldn't have even required much extra screen time. Extend the film 10 minutes and we could have gotten some awesome extra visuals. The entire biker gang/kale deplot would have been too much to fit in, but I wasn't crazy about the trade off they made having Stu reappear at the end...
