New Line has been trying desperately to reboot the original John Carpenter‘s Escape From New York for years. Directors like Len Wiseman, Brett Ratner and Breck Eisner have all been attached to direct, and tons of names have been attached to play the famous SNAKE PLISKEN role originally played by Kurt Russel.
Talks have ended today with Deadline reporting that New Line and Warner Bros. have let the Escape From New York remake option lapse. Does this mean that a remake to the cult-clasc film won't be made? No. But it does delay the inevitable that Snake Plissken will once again walk the streets of New York.
