Ranking The Alien Franchise, Film For Film!
In 1979 Ridley Scott altered the landscape of horror and science fiction when he shocked the world with the terrifying creature feature, Alien. nce then the franchise has gone on to secure an amazing fanbase that have, ultimately, led to the release of three direct sequels and two crossover collion flicks, Aliens Versus Predator and Aliens Versus Predator: Requiem.
In light of the forthcoming prequel, Prometheus, I’ve decided it’s time to break down each series installment, ranking each feature, beginning with the weakest of the bunch, and of course concluding with the strongest franchise offering.
While the majority of genre fanatics tend to dismiss both AVP features when discusng the Alien films, I’ve decided to include them in this list, as I personally feel they merit at least acknowledgement.
 finale that’s fairly well assembled from a technical standpoint. Alien 3: David Fincher did a fine job of crafting a plauble storyline for the series’ third feature. There are terrific performances everywhere you look, including some awesome work from Charles S. Dutton, Danny Webb and the late but great Pete Postlethwaite; gourney is as terrific as she’s ever been, which should come as no surprise. A fine setup and rewarding finale earn big points from me. Alien 3 may well be the best third installment in any ongoing horror franchise (though the third Nightmare film is definitely in contention for that title).<br /><br />http://youtu.be/RppKRCLW9OM<br /><br />2. Aliens: Whether you prefer Aliens to Alien really comes down to how much you enjoy action films. Aliens, was clearly as much action as it was science fiction or horror. That’s not a knock, as I think the movie is genuinely brilliant, and ranks amongst the greatest sequels of all time, genre restrictions eliminated. From the cast to the plot to the special effects to the… well, you see where I’m going with this. Ealy one of the finest genre features to be filmed, Aliens is as good as the first film, if not better (which many would argue). Alien: The only reason this film trumps its immediate sequel is because of the outrageous suspense and sheer terror that director Ridley Scott phoned from the entire crew in front of, and behind the cameras. There are virtually zero weaknesses to be spotted in the feature; as unbelievable as that sounds, it’s true. The legitimate fear that strikes the bowels during Kane’s convulve “birth” scene, and Dallas’s death toll have not been matched nce. Joss Whedon wrote the script for Resurrection, and then they butchered it and it ended up almost nothing like his vion.

Alien and Aliens are two films that i conder to be great. I enjoyed Alien 3 i guess... but that was right when they started ung CGI and it looks God-awful.
I can definitely smell a reboot coming soon for the Alien series, and i'm not talking about AVP.

I'm going to have to revit AVP:R; when I first saw it years ago I remember thinking how much better it was than the Power Rangers-like AVP. But all the hate I'm reading about it makes me think I must have been watching a different film!
