PET SEMATARY Remake Back In The News: Alexandre Aja To Direct?

"Sometimes dead is better!"

Regardless whether you feel that is true or not this remake is going to happen. If you remember way back in February talks first began to emerge regarding the Pet Sematary remake. Producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Steven Schneider armed themselves with a script written by Matt Greenberg (1408, Reign Of Fire) and the search for a high caliber director quickly ensued.

According to Twitch Film.com

Paramount is all 'gung ho' in trying to gn the French film director Alexandre Aja (HighTenon, The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D) to pilot this project which is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.

Aja clearly has the credentials to bring this film to life once again, but is this one of those films that the studio should just leave alone? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Plot Synops: "The road in front of Dr. Louis Creed's rural Maine home frequently claims the lives of neighborhood pets. Louis has recently moved from Chicago to Ludlow with his wife Rachel, their children and pet cat. Near their house, local children have created a cemetery for the dogs and cats killed by the steady stream of transports on the busy highway. Deeper in the woods lies another graveyard, an ancient Indian burial ground whose nister properties Louis discovers when the family cat is killed."

The remake of 'Pet Sematary' is currently listed as a 2013 release for Paramount, so if things get moving with Aja, the timing should work out well.

Given the treatment Aja gave to Piranha, I'd say this is one remake that might actually work.

i dont want to see this happen. aja is pigeon holing himself, quickly.

One ngle original tale on his ledger (Haute Tenon) just makes him seem so insanely limited.

The guy is an absolute beast, but pretty soon he'll be known as the guy who can only handle remakes.

Pass on Aja as director for this, in fact, pass on remaking this one, por favor!!

Except High Tenon is a blatant rip-off of Dean Koontz' Intenty. I doubt you've read it otherwise you definitely wouldn't be calling High Tenon original. Not only is the premise exactly the same, he even stole little specifics like the killer checking under the water faucet. Its almost a scene for scene adaptation all the way up to the 3rd act. Truly amazing Aja didn't find himself looking at a lawsuit.

He may not be original, but all of his flicks are extremely well made. No denying that.

P.S i wonder how many dogs get brutally murdered in his would-be remake of Pet Cemetery.

You can't make this film any better than it already is. The Zelda scenes are some of the creepiest scenes in not just Horror movie history but movie history in general.

ENOUGH WITH THE REMAKES!!!!

as a fan of remakes I can't really see this happening nce the original pet semetary was one of the few horror movies to scare me.

you know whats crazy, is I have indeed read that book. But shit... i probably read that in...97, 98 maybe? I remember the book hadn't even been out all that long when i picked it up. Still have it in fact lol (I think I need to re-read it!)

I really dont think it would be a good move.

The main reason is its way too long!

No one is going to t there and watch a film like that! for that length off time

I think you'll also be amazed that Aja didn't get sued for High Tenon.

I remember the first time watching High Tenon, I had this underlying feeling that i had seen it before somewhere; but i knew that wasn't the case because it had been released only a week prior. It was a weird deja-vu type feeling. It wasn't until my second time watching High Tenon that i remembered Intenty. (Which i must have read my sophomore year in highschool)

Right with you on this. The Zelda scenes could not have been done any better. I doubt there'd be much luck in finding a creepy little child to fill Miko Hughes' shoes at that. Plus, the ankle-slicing scene? I mean really, why try to top something that is still that good?

If a film is more than 20 years old and still can make people wince, leave it ALONE for fuck's sake.

I've said it a thousand times: can we PLEASE get some originality back in Hollywood?
