Is Tom Savini As Vile As They Say? Find Out In My New Blog!

There have long been rumors of Tom Savini's ice cold shoulder and apprehenon when it comes to fan interaction. Prior to meeting the man, I'd always wondered the legitimacy of numerous claims, and, being a die hard fan of the man's work, I opted to ignore the negative stigma attached to the man's name. That is, until I finally got my chance to meet the man.

I've just launched a personal blog in which I'll chronicle my experiences in Hollywood as well as my mucal ventures. The newest piece of work to hit the blog is a detailed account of my initial interaction with Savini, and if you think "eh, we all know he's a jerk, why read the blog?" Well, I can only say that my account may even surprise those familiar with Tom and his demeanor.

check out a brief portion of my blog:

I continued on with my feeble reporting techniques throughout the night, and all things seemed about as peachy as can be.

Until I found my way to Tom Savini’s booth.

I approached Tom, identified myself and thrust my media credits in his face, expecting a warm smile and at least a few moments of chit-chat. The lack of spectators surrounding his booth should have afforded ample warning...

I had a chance to meet Mr. Savini at a HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis. Now, granted, I was very star-struck, but when I handed him my Friday the 13th DVD to get gned, he acted as if I were about to pull out a knife and slit his throat. H just said, "Sure", gned it, gave it to me, and moved on to the next fan. I was a bit disappointed, but I recuperated when I met John Carpenter at Fright Night Film Fest this year. Man, what a great guy.

John is a nice guy who is extremely articulate, and he actually LISTENS to fans

BTW - if you guys like the blog, follow it! I've got a whole lot of stories to tell in regards to film and Hollywood.

I have never had the honor of meeting anyone in the horror buness, mostly due to where I live, and the cost to get out to cons. But it has always been my dream to meet Tom, right up until I started to hear about him. When I see him in special features, documentaries, etc, he always seems like he would be a fun person to talk to. I most likely will never meet him, and lately, I don't know if I even want to anymore

You think Tom Savini is a dick you should meeting Adam West. That was one of my most crushing con experiences ever. At least Tom talked alittle. Adam West just sat there and stared at me and my friends while we continuous tried to start polite conversation. We kept trying but it was no use.

Also, your post was a pretty good read so expect another follower.

I agree, Savini is a jerk. I met him at a convention 4 years ago and got the same impreson of him. I walked up to him, said Hi and he seemed to be "pestered" by me....with not much to say. ALMOST every actor at these conventions are there for one reason only...Money. And it definetly shows.

Though, I would have to give the crown to Ken Foree. It was my first convention at the time and I was "starstruck" by all the actors. So, a very excited me, wanted to get a photo of every individual person there. When I asked Ken if I could snap a photo of him, he replied "No man, you gotta buy something". FUCK HIM....LOL, he isn't even famous or well known. And to spend $20 on a autographed photo of him, would NEVER even be worth $10.....Believe me, I am way more wise and selective nowadays when I attend these conventions.P.S. Let me know about Derek Mears, he is one of the main reasons I am going to Horrorfind tomorrow. I hope he is worth $20 a minute.

Tom So-Foney is a complete Hack. I myself work as a FX Makeup Artist in major motion pictures. Plug: Check out "The Thing" this October! Tom has been "washed up" for years. He never works on anything anymore. No one wants anything to do with him. At these conventions, all he's looking for is some quick cash and a quick lay from some young female horror fan. (We hear all sorts of stories thru the grapevine being in the industry). He is truly a piece of shit. Maybe he should just take up low budget porn.

The stuff about Savini has surprised me because he seems like such a cool and nice man in the interviews he does for DVD's and blu-rays. Of course, he's trying to sell a product, so yeah, just like a smart server is going to be nice to a patron so they can get a tip, Tom is going to do the same and come across as polite in interviews. I guess Savini really is a good actor.

"Con" is truly the right word for these events. Perhaps I'm just cheap, but I honestly think it's nonsense that some of these people charge in the first place. They should be happy that they still have fans who care about them, but I realize most of them are has-been's and never-was's who are forever riding on a wave of nostalgia, and they have to make a living too.

I'd love it if I could travel all over the world with all of my expenses paid for, talk to strangers who admire me, and credit me for their accomplishments when I've never even met them. Then gn pictures of myself from twenty-five years ago. That has to be one of the greatest jobs ever. You can get away with being mean to your customers too. Some of these folks are probably rude because they know they can get away with it; They'll still always have fans kisng their butt.

I am a huge horror fan, but I'd probably not bother to go to a horror convention because I don't dere to have my point of view of some of these people ruined. (I might go to one maybe if it was in my hometown, but that rarely happens.) There's no way I am going to travel far because I am not going to take the risk of being insulted. (Any con I would go to would have to have some folks I *really* dered to meet. Only ones I can think of are Robert Englund and Ken Kirzinger because I'm a huge "Freddy vs. Jason" fan, and I also think Robert Englund is one of the only real horror icons that exists. He's up there with Bela Lugo and Boris Karloff.)

Most of those people, not all, but most of those people at cons are just B-rated actors who got lucky a long time ago, and are now depending on stuff they did in the 1980's to keep them from getting real jobs.
