FOUND FOOTAGE MYERS?
Is HALLOWEEN 3D a mess or is it just me? A few days ago I posted that some news may be breaking about the long awaited details about the return of Michael Myers. Now, according to BleedingCool.com, a ton of other rumors are spreading like wild fire. What is a horror fan to believe at this point? Well lets see what has been reported and you can be the judge.
While talking about HATCHET 3 in an interview with BleedingCool director Adam Green mentioned that he was contacted about directing a new movie for a well known slasher franchise and declined. What was the film about and why did he decline? Read below to find out.
ADAM GREEN: "Now they’re taking, and I can’t say the name of it, but a very well-known slasher franchise, and when I got the call I was like, “I would love to do this!”
Then they were like, “OK, it’s going to be a found footage movie.” I was like, “Why?”
And they were like, “Because Paranormal Activity made a lot of money.”
Now after a statement like that the internet has been running ramped with rumors of what "very well-known slasher franchise" Green was asked to be apart of. Many speculated it could be the upcoming sequel to the remade FRIDAY THE 13TH movie.
Although no movement seems to be taking place on F-13: Part 2, this was the speculation. That is until writer Todd Farmer (who wrote a treatment for H3D for Dimenon Films) tweeted this below.
TODD FARMER: "Dunno what to do or think any more. I'm fired because I won't do a PG13 horror or a found footage Myers. Hollywood blows."
Farmer was then asked if there would be a right way to make a PG-13 horror film or found footage Myers. This was his answer:
"PG13 and FF have their places. My opinion would be that neither belong in remaking rated R originals."
So is Todd Farmer off of the HALLOWEEN 3D team now? It would certainty appear so according to
he tweet. All of this is mere speculation but he did put it on the web for the world to see. It would seem to me that he is off the project but who the hell knows at this point?
The bottom line is, does Hollywood and the Weinsteins want Michael Myers in a found footage style film? Would it even work in the storyline that Rob Zombie built or would this be remaking a remake? And does the 3D title still stand?
A ton of questions left unanswered especially with the October 26th, 2012 release date looming. A lot can still happen but things seem to be off to a shaky start here for Myers in 2012 to say the least. Is this one case where it is just time to hang up the mask and leave things well enough alone? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
