Kevin Smith Pissed At Independent Spirit Awards (ISA) For "Red State" Snub

Kevin Smith is never shy and apparently the rotund writer and director was livid when RED STATE didn't win at this years Independent Spirit Awards. Smith was so pissed he trashed them on Twitter with the following message below:

"How the f*Ck did the @SpiritAwards NOT nominate Michael Parks?," he wrote. "Nor John Goodman? Nor Melissa Leo? F*ck your idiotic organization. #FakeIndie"

The anger apparently comes from the fact that Smith paid for a one-week Oscar-qualifying run in June to give the actors of RED STATE a chance to be nominated for awards. Instead, the Independent Spirt Awards (ISA) completely ignored his film and recognized "Take Shelter," "Beginners," "Drive," "The Artist," "50/50" and "The Descendants."

Red State was pretty good but not sure about Oscar worthy, except maybe the actor playing the Preacher, he did an awesome job.

Based on the content of Red State does anyone else find it ironic/hypocritical that when his movie doesn't get the accolades he expects he's so quick to attack the ISA? "My movie was great, if you don't think so you're "#FakeIndie".

I liked Kevin Smith a lot more before he got a Twitter account.

the movie overall was ok-good range, but michael parks was fantastic and deserves some recognition. his character was bat shit crazy, but came off so smooth and controlled. melissa leo was great too, but michael parks stole the show.

Lame move, just like the flick.

Sorry, Kev, but you were sharper before you became Mr. Weed.

I think he was upset (due to his own words) about the actors in his film not being nominated. Winning on the other hand, is a different ball of wax. I think I'd be upset too if I made a high quality film with good actors that weren't even nominated. And on that note, I really liked Red State!
