The Very First All Female Horror Anthology XX Is Coming - Details Within!!

It is finally time for the women in Horror to truly shine and do their thing! The news comes that MPI/Dark Sky Films and XYZ Films have made an announcement that they will be joining forces to create an all female Horror anthology movie that goes by the title of XX. There will be five different segments throughout the film, with each one being directed by talented females. In addition, every segment will feature a female lead. This idea brings a long overdue concept as females are firmly showing that they are a major force to be reckoned with in the world of Horror, and it will be nice to see this incredible idea come to life.

The directors for XX include: Mary Harron (American Psycho), Jennifer Lynch (Boxing Helena), Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body), Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary), Jovanka Vuckovic (THE CAPTURED BIRD).

Stop motion animator Sofia Carrillo will also be creating the movie's title sequence, as well as the animated sequences appearing between each segment.

Todd Brown will be producing for XYZ. He had this to say:

“One of the givens of so many horror films has been the objectification of young women, and we thought it was time for a different approach to scaring audiences and letting the female voice be heard.”

Greg Newman, executive producer for MPI/Dark Sky added:

“We know that women make up about half of the audience for horror films, and yet female creative voice has been nearly silent in the horror genre. So we are thrilled about the new and distinct approach that these talented directors will bring to the project.”
