THE CONJURING Spin-Off & PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5 News!

THE CONJURING took the Horror world by storm last year doing very well at the box office and caused major waves using a very unique style blended with the old school influence. With that success comes the demand for more and it was going around not too long ago that New Line and Warner Bros. had their eye on a spin-off type of film that would be called ANNABELLE which would follow the cursed/possessed doll from the first film. Word has now come in confirming the project.

John R. Leonetti, who was the Director of Photography for THE CONJURING will be directing the flick. With a script written by Gary Dauberman and produced by Peter Safran, the film will also see James Wan returning as an executive producer.

There is also some casting news as we have learned that the lead roles of the film will be going to Ward Horton and Annebelle Wallis. There is no confirmation yet as to what kind of a release this project will receive. Later on this month the production will be beginning in LA.

The Paranormal franchise is back on the map once again with the recent release of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES. Yet another Paranormal film is on it's way this October simply titled PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5. Some new word on that has come into the light.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5 will be directed by Gregory Plotkin. A casting call sheet has been revealed for the film and it has a quick description listed for some of the characters involved.

It reads as follows:

"Ryan, Emily, their 6-year-old daughter Leila, and Mike, Ryan’s younger brother (essentially a less fitter, less funkier version of his brother) essentially.

Ryan, 26-31, is described as a ‘big kid’, he’s a video-game designer who has relocated his family from New York to Pala Alto for a cushy gig at Rockstar Games.

Though somewhat of a hippie (she’s into organic food, loves the arts and music, won’t let her daughter eat Gluten, and sports tattoos), Wife Emily is considerably more serious than her young husband – she’s constantly on the go, does Yoga, and though loving, has an air of maturity about her. Her sister died a year before.

Their daughter Leila seems to be a mixture of both – a bit of a fearless, opinionated tomboy."

With the Ryan character listed as working for Rockstar Games it seems natural to think that it would imply that he will be a very techincal guy who probably would have a lot of knowledge in that field. Which means he will more than likely have the knack for camera useage.
