Gunnar Hansen Passes Away

There is very sad news in the world today as we have learned that Gunnar Hansen has passed away. His passing took place Saturday at his home in Maine after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 68. Hansen is survived by his partner of 13 years, Betty Tower.



Gunnar Hansen is known within the world of Horror as an icon. He is mostly recognized for portraying Leatherface in 1974's TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE. The film directed by Tobe Hooper has become one of the most defining movies in Horror.

Hansen also had roles in the films THE DEMON LOVER, CAMPFIRE TALES, MOSQUITO, and even appeared in 2013's TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D as Boss Sawyer.



Hansen was born in Reykjavik, Iceland. He came to the United States and studied at the University of Texas, where he majored in English and Scandinavian Studies.

Back in 2013, Hansen published his book "Chain Saw Confidential," giving readers a behind-the-scenes look at how TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE was made.

At the time of his death, Hansen was working on a film called DEATH HOUSE as a writer and producer. It is about how a secret government facility becomes ground zero for the most Horrific prison break in the history of mankind. The movie is scheduled to come out sometime next year.
