There is very sad news in the world today as we have learned that Don Calfa has passed away. His passing took place on Thursday at his home in Yucca Valley, CA. He was 76 years old.

Calfa was known as a go-to actor, appearing in films such as THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE, THE STAR CHAMBER, CHOPPER CHICKS IN ZOMBIETOWN, FOUL PLAY, and THE ROSE. He was also in the Martin Scorsese directed NEW YORK, NEW YORK. Other appearances include THE BIONIC WOMAN, TWIN PEAKS, NIGHT COURT, MURDER, SHE WROTE, TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED, and BOY MEETS WORLD just to name a few.

In 1985, Calfa appeared in THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD as the mortician named Ernie, helping his friend Burt and a group of young punks fight a bunch of zombies.

The actor also played the fun role of Paulie in the 1989 hit WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S.

In 2009 at a convention, Calfa said in regards to his role as Ernie from THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, “We had about two weeks rehearsal. It was very well tuned by the time it was ready to shoot. It’s nice doing these shows and it’s great being in a cult classic. I’m very proud of it.”

Calfa had just completed a role in the comedy drama LEWISBURG.

R.I.P. Don Calfa. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends during this very difficult time.
