Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
Back in 2011 The Vicious Brothers (Collin Minihan and Stuart Ortiz) wrote and directed the found footage Horror film GRAVE ENCOUNTERS. The supernatural tale follows the crew of a paranormal reality television program who lock themselves in a haunted psychiatric hospital in search of evidence of paranormal activity as they shoot what ends up becoming their final episode.
2012 saw the release of GRAVE ENCOUNTERS 2, which was also written by the Vicious Brothers and directed by John Poliquin.
Fans of the GRAVE ENCOUNTERS films have been wondering if and when a third movie might come to surface and if so, what would the story be? The first news on the project has finally arrived.
The Vicious Brothers recently spoke to Daily Dead about their latest film EXTRATERRESTRIAL and revealed the first details about GRAVE ENCOUNTERS 3.
Ortiz said:
"We’re developing it right now and we’re motivated to get a script going and then see where it goes from there, but it’s the project that we’re both in on right now. We have a cool origin story for it that takes place in 1948, when the hospital [Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital] was still active.
It’s a found footage film that starts with a crew going in there to do a documentary on mental health, and they realize that Lance Preston [Sean Rogerson’s character] is a patient there and is claiming that he’s from the future and has all this information. It’s a pretty wacky, fun, sort of Army of Darkness time travel opening, and then it gets into the Grave Encounters horror stuff."
When asked if they would be directing GRAVE ENCOUNTERS 3 or if John Poliquin could be filling the role Ortiz replied:
"Not sure yet, but we’re definitely open to coming back to it. We’d like to wrap up the franchise in a way that’s really satisfying as a trilogy. It’s yet to be decided, but we’ll certainly be the ones writing it again."
Keep in mind that nothing is set in stone, but it is nice to know that GRAVE ENCOUNTERS 3 is being developed. We will continue to bring you more on this story as it unfolds.
