The PROMETHEUS & ALIEN Connection Is Coming!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

2012 saw the release of PROMETHEUS which became a huge hit at the box office and of course it makes perfect sense to have a sequel. Director Ridley Scott has previously stated that PROMETHEUS is not an ALIEN franchise film, but many fans still believed that an even bigger connection than what we already have is coming between the two as the Neil Blomkamp directed ALIEN 5 is currently in the works.

Ridley has revealed that his next film PROMETHEUS 2 will indeed be titled ALIEN: PARADISE LOST. He recently spoke with HeyUGuys about the project a bit saying of the title:

“We’re heading back to why and how and when the beast was invented,” Ridley said at THE MARTIAN premiere. “We’ll go back into the back door of the very first Alien that I did thirty years ago.”

The new planet which will be featured in ALIEN: PARADISE LOST will be the home of the engineers of the first film and has been dubbed "Paradise" by the filmmakers. Scott says the new film should involve new and terrifying creatures. This includes the engineer/alien hybrid that is dubbed "The Deacon" which we saw in the closing moments of PROMETHEUS.

Scott offered further details on how the prequel/sequel will connect when he spoke with Empire saying:

“In a way it is PROMETHEUS 2, it’s exactly the same story,” Scott confirmed. “But it was always in the works to be called that [ALIEN: PARADISE LOST]. Is PROMETHEUS actually taking us off course from where I’m going, which is actually backing into the first ALIEN… I’ve even got connections with Ripley, but I’m not telling you what.”

He went on to say of re-approaching the Xenomorph:

“I think I have to go again. We will see who made it, and why. That’s what’s interesting.”

“Years ago, I kept mulling over what ALIEN 2 could be, I was fiddling around with some ideas,” said Scott. “I was always fascinated with why this thing [the xenomorph] would be made, by whom, and for what purpose? The planet it was on – and I was looking at the dark side of the moon – would be called Paradise. Paradise is a very ominous word…”

Scott then talked Neil Blomkamp's ALIEN 5 saying:

“I’m producing it,” he reiterated on his role in Blomkamp’s proper sequel. “The design is for it to go out next, after this. This will go out first. It’s more associated with Ripley, it’s a completely different angle, it’s more of a sequel. I’m coming in from the back end.”

ALIEN: PARADISE LOST will begin filming in February. Noomi Rapace (Elizabeth Shaw) and Michael Fassbender (David) will be returning to reprise their respective roles.

We will continue to bring you more on this story as it unfolds.
