Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
Back in 1987 the world saw the release of PREDATOR. A very original and clever setting came along with it as a group of military soldiers found themselves deep within the jungle being hunted down one by one by a mysterious transparent killer alien. We learned over a year ago that PREDATOR would be heading to the modern era courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox. Still slated to direct will be Shane Black who also has been co-writing a script along with Fred Dekker.
Shane Black revealed earlier today that the screenplay is now complete and has been turned in to 20th Century Fox. Producer John Davis previously held the script in high regard calling it "Fresh", "genius" and "entertaining."
Black previously revealed that the upcoming project will be an "inventive sequel" that will mine the mythology of the franchise.
Black and Dekker previously teamed up to write the Horror comedy THE MONSTER SQUAD, a film in which Dekker also directed. An interesting fact is that Shane Black portrayed the character Hawkins in the original PREDATOR so it seems fitting that he will be directing this new movie.
Fred Dekker is known for writing and directing NIGHT OF THE CREEPS and ROBOCOP, while Shane Black's writing credentials include IRON MAN 3, and LETHAL WEAPON.
It is very possible that a 2017 release is in the cards as the 30th anniversary of the original film takes place then.
We will continue to bring you more on the upcoming PREDATOR film as it unfolds.
