Director Gary Tunnicliffe Talks His Upcoming HELLRAISER Film Within!

With the recent big news that another HELLRAISER sequel is indeed on the horizon, fans are eager to learn more about what is to come. At first it seemed as though this effort was just another studio rushing situation but as more is revealed about the movie, it appears that this film could be very interesting indeed.

We know that there will be no Doug Bradley or Clive Barker involved in the film, which many fans refuse to accept another HELLRAISER without the pair, but we do know that Heather Langenkamp of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET fame will have a role in the picture.

HELLRAISER 10, currently shooting under the title JUDGMENT in Oklahoma is written and being directed by Gary Tunnicliffe who has worked as the makeup artist on past HELLRAISER films as well as writing the previous entry HELLRAISER: REVELATIONS.

Tunnicliffe recently spoke with Fangoria about the upcoming sequel saying:

"This is not a simple recycling of the HELLRAISER formula; his is a film that will boast some of the strangest, most bizarre, horrific and thought provoking sequences ever seen in a horror film, a horror film that owes it’s inspiration to the works of Heironymous Bosch, and Francis Bacon as well as Cronenberg, Fincher and Lynch (the David’s, as we nickname the influences here) as well as obviously and foremost Clive Barker…

The film isn’t a re-hashing of an old script (as some lesser informed sites are assuming) nor was it rushed into production. It’s a completely original piece and so far it’s looking pretty amazing… we certainly have some sights to show you."

Tunnicliffe's message for the fans:

"To the fans, I would say this… I know you’ve been let down, and trust me, I have too, but simply give me a chance. I know we can NEVER make a film as great as the first two HELLRAISER’s, I wouldn’t even attempt to do so, but I think we have a fun script here an opportunity with an amazing cast and crew to give you all something that feels a little familiar, a little different, completely terrifying and is a worthy part of the HELLRAISER Canon….. oh and of course if you want blood?…. well you’ve got it!"

Synopsis:

"Detectives Sean and David Carter are on the case to find a gruesome serial killer terrorizing the city. Joining forces with Detective Christine Egerton, they dig deeper into a spiraling maze of horror that may not be of this world. Could the Judgment awaiting the killer’s victims also be waiting for Sean?"
