Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

In a world that is full of remakes, we bring you word on yet another classic that will soon be receiving this treatment. It was announced a while back that the 1990 sci-fi thriller FLATLINERS would be getting a redo. The film starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts and Kevin Bacon. It was directed by Joel Schumacher and revolved around a group of medical students who journeyed into the afterworld to find meaning in their own lives before being resuscitated in the nick of time. Of course, things end up going horribly wrong.

Things are beginning to take shape as Diego Luna joins the cast of the FLATLINERS remake.

Luna, who will be appearing in the STAR WARS spin-off ROGUE ONE later on this year, is best known for his role in Alfonso Cuarón's Y TU MAMÁ TAMBIÉN. He also was part of Guillermo del Toro-produced Día de los Muertos animated film THE BOOK OF LIFE, where he voiced the lead character of Manolo.

Luna joins previously announced cast member Ellen Page.

Original synopsis:

"University Hospital School of Medicine, a group of ambitious medical students are about to die... and live to describe the experience.

Embarking on a daring and arrogant experiment, the five aim to push through the confines of life and touch the face of death.

In their search for knowledge, however, the five discover the chilling consequences of daring to tamper with immortality."

The FLATLINERS remake will be directed by Niels Arden Oplev, who is best known for helming the original THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and the pilot episode of MR. ROBOT. Ben Ripley will pen the screenplay with Laurence Mark and Michael Douglas producing.

As of now there is no release date for the FLATLINERS remake, but production is set to begin in July.

We will continue to bring you more on the FLATLINERS remake as it unfolds.
