Update On The New CHILDREN OF THE CORN Movie Within!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

When it comes to making sequels in a franchise, the process can be very tricky and done for many reasons. Take for instance how Dimension has been wanting to remake CHILDREN OF THE CORN and HELLRAISER. Sure CHILDREN OF THE CORN has already been remade but Dimension had no involvement. So whenever their projects fail to take shape, they improvise. This was the case for 2011's CHILDREN OF THE CORN: GENESIS and HELLRAISER: REVELATIONS.

Now Dimension has the HELLRAISER: JUDGMENT sequel project in the works in an effort to keep the rights to the series. The company recently lost the rights to the HALLOWEEN franchise and it appears that Dimension does not want to lose their remaining Horror franchises.

Just last week we learned that a new CHILDREN OF THE CORN sequel is currently filming for Dimension. Now B-D reports that production is taking place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and is shooting under the title RUNAWAY.

CHILDREN OF THE CORN: GENESIS writer/director Joel Soisson has also penned the script for RUNAWAY which:

"follows a young pregnant woman who escapes a murderous child cult in a small Midwestern town (Gatlin, Nebraska?). She then spends the next decade living anonymously in an attempt to spare her son the horrors that she experienced as a child. She lands in the small Oklahoma town... but something is following her. Now, she must confront this evil or lose her child."

Alexandre Lehmann, who has worked as a camera operator on some films for Dimension throughout the years was rumored to be directing. Soisson was also rumored to direct but B-D's sources are claiming that the director will actually be John Gulager who previously worked on the FEAST sequels as well as PIRANHA 3DD.

Gulager was indeed in Oklahoma recently as he has an acting role in the recently wrapped HELLRAISER: JUDGMENT.

The main character in the upcoming CHILDREN OF THE CORN film is said to be named Ruth and this has sparked some speculation that the movie could somehow be connected to the 2009 remake which featured a pregnant character also named Ruth. However the fact that Dimension had no involvement with the remake would make this theory just a bit far fetched.

With filming expected to wrap on April 2nd, we will continue to bring you the latest on the new CHILDREN OF THE CORN sequel as we hear it.
