Update On GODZILLA 2!

The 2014 monster film GODZILLA was highly successful grossing $529 million worldwide. Directed by Gareth Edwards, the effort marked the 30th film within the overall franchise.

Last week it was announced that the release of GODZILLA 2 had been pushed back nine months.

We have learned perhaps one of the reasons for the delay, that being that Edwards has parted ways with the project on good terms.

Edwards directed the upcoming STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE, and is now looking to work on smaller projects.

Max Borenstein penned the current script of GODZILLA 2, promising "bigger and even better things."

KONG: SKULL ISLAND will be coming to theaters on March 10, 2017, eventually building up to GODZILLA VS. KONG on May 29, 2020. If things run smoothly, the plan is to have other famous kaiju incorporated into the franchise.

GODZILLA 2 has a current release date of March 22, 2019.
