THE TOXIC AVENGER Remake Is Coming!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

It has been a few years now since we’ve heard anything about THE TOXIC AVENGER remake with many fans having doubts about the Troma classic being remade when the announcement was made back in 2010. At one time HOT TUB TIME MACHINE director Steve Pink was on board and their were some interesting casting choices going around such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and John Travolta. While none of this ever came to fruition, it looks as though the TOXIC AVENGER remake is still very much underway.

We have just learned that Conrad Vernon, the co-director of 2016's SAUSAGE PARTY has been selected to direct THE TOXIC AVENGER remake.

With Vernon having worked on films like SHREK 2, MADAGASCAR 3, and MONSTERS VS. ALIENS, this will mark the first time that the director will be taking on a live action project.

Vernon says, “The opportunity to re-imagine a favorite cult-classic from my high school years is an honor. Toxie is an underground icon. My favorite kind.”

"TOXIC AVENGER is a re-imagining of Troma’s cult classic, which tells the story of a New Jersey teenager whose accidental tumble into a vat of toxic waste turns him into a mutant superhero. "

TOXIC AVENGER is being co-written by Archer's Mike Arnold and Chris Poole, working from a draft by Steve Pink and D.C. Mitchell. It is being described as more grounded and mainstream.

TOXIC AVENGER comes from Bob Cooper and Richard Saperstein’s Storyscape Entertainment, Akiva Goldsman’s Weed Road, and Charlie Corwin.

The remake will be executive produced by Troma's Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, along with Bob Cooper, Alex Schwartz, Greg Lessans, Shara Kay, Armen Aghaeian, Steve Kessler, Holly Kobzina,Dave Mendez, Edward Mokhtarian, Geno Tazioli, Steve Pink, and Mike Wilkins.

We will continue to bring you more on this story as we hear it.
