Fresh News On The Upcoming RE-ANIMATOR Film!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

Back in 1985, the world was introduced to RE-ANIMATOR, a dark comedy Horror science fiction film that is based on the H. P. Lovecraft episodic novella "Herbert West–Reanimator." The movie was directed by Stuart Gordon and was the first film in the RE-ANIMATOR film series that has since gained cult status among fans.

Some news has surfaced about the upcoming RE-ANIMATOR film titled RE-ANIMATOR: EVOLUTION. The people over at That's Not Current were able to get some information on the upcoming movie as writer/director Serge Levin tells them:

"Yes, [it’s definitely] legit and more true to the original material of HP Lovecraft.” he told TNC. “My original story Antihuman was more science driven and had nothing to do with zombies. I don’t like the zombie genre overall. It had to do with harnessing neutrinos to stimulate any living cells. It just so happened that my original concept overlapped [with] the HP Lovecraft Re-animator and we decided to adapt my initial script.”

To clear up any confusion TNC adds:

"The film is a modern rendition of the short story “Herbert West – Reanimator” by H.P. Lovecraft. The aim is to retain the spirit and story elements of Lovecraft’s original source material to create a film that’s “much darker, more thought provoking, and definitely more grounded in science than the first adaptation.” However, Levin also promises “a true horror film with some neat sci-fi layers.”

RE-ANIMATOR: EVOLUTION will feature the character of Dr. Herbert West, set to be played by Johnathon Schaech, who co-wrote the screenplay along with Levin.

Also among the cast are Brad Dourif as Dr. William Blackmore, Lin Shaye as Meredith, and Levin himself as Dr. Ed Softly.

We will continue to bring you more on RE-ANIMATOR: EVOLUTION as we hear it.
