2014's DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES was a huge box office hit, pulling in $708 million worldwide. It was no surprise when it was announced that a follow up film was coming.

At this point, we are around nine months until the release of director Matt Reeves' upcoming sequel WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES. As fans are patiently waiting on what is to come, we bring you a couple of goodies today.

With the New York Comic-Con now kicking off, a digital billboard has been released for the upcoming film.



In addition, the official synopsis has arrived:

"In ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet."

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Gabriel Chavarria, Judy Greer, Steve Zahn, Karin Konoval, Sara Canning, Aleks Paunovic, and Amiah Miller. The film is written by Reeves and Mark Bomback.

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES will be in theaters July 14th, 2017.
