Fresh News On The HIGHLANDER Reboot Within!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

Back in 1986 director Russell Mulcahy saw the release of his film HIGHLANDER. Despite having enjoyed little success in its initial U.S. release, the movie eventually gained a huge cult following and inspired a franchise that includes sequels and television spin offs.

A HIGHLANDER reboot has been in the works for a long time now and it looks as though a director has been found for the Lionsgate project. According to THR, Chad Stahelski has been hired to take a seat in the director's chair. Stahelski recently directed JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2.

Stahelski had this to say to THR in regards to the HIGHLANDER reboot:

"I've been a huge fan of the original property since I saw it in high school. Such great themes of immortality, love, and identity are all wrapped up in such colorful mythology. I can't think of a better property that gives the opportunity to create interesting characters, mythic themes and action set pieces."

At this time plot details are very thin for the upcoming HIGHLANDER film, but we know that it will be a new take on the fantasy adventure franchise.

Lionsgate is currently seeking writers to pen the latest HIGHLANDER story. Neal H. Moritz and Peter Davis are producing.

Original synopsis:

"When Scottish clansman Connor MacLeod discovers his true identity as a member of a legion of immortals, he embarks on a legendary journey spanning continents and centuries, eventually landing in modern-day New York City. Connor faces his ultimate test when other immortals begin to appear in the city, leading to a titanic showdown where only one can claim victory."

We will continue to bring you more on the HIGHLANDER reboot as it unfolds.
