Fresh News On The Upcoming JEKYLL Film Within!

Universal has been preparing to take it's Classic monsters and give them reboots for a good while now. The studio is in the process of bringing them back to life on the big screen, with the idea of creating it's own universe to where characters can cross over from different films.

With THE MUMMY in full swing, we saw Russel Crowe briefly in the trailer for THE MUMMY as the character of Dr. Jekyll.

However there is yet another tale waiting to be told in the a totally different film titled JEKYLL. Chris Evans will be filling that Jekyll void. The film will be based on the BBC One mini-series from Steven Moffat.

We have now learned that ZOMBIELAND director Ruben Fleischer has been selected to direct JEKYLL. Things are busy at the moment as Fleischer has been busy with ZOMBIELAND 2.



Chris Evans will play:

"Tom Jackman, a modern-day descendant of Jekyll who is beginning to exhibit the trademark split personality. The father and husband abandons his family, without explaining why, and lives in a fortified basement with a psychiatric nurse as his ally. When they strap the doctor to a metal chair, she watches him transform into an alter ego who rages, shows heightened strength and speed and can be a charming, flirtatious scoundrel as well. The two personalities try to co-exist, even though one doesn’t remember what the other does while in control of the body. They use a microcassette to leave messages for each other. Unable to stay away from the family he left behind for their own safety, he visits his wife, Hyde assumes control and learns about them, and things grow very complicated."

Fleischer will direct from a screenplay by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondr. Marc Platt will produce the project, along with Ellen DeGeneres, and Jeff Kleeman.

As of now, there is no word on when filming will begin.
