Robert Englund Offers His Thoughts On WISHMASTER & More!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

WISHMASTER is a 1997 Horror film from director Robert Kurtzman. The movie was executive produced by Wes Craven, and is the only film of the WISHMASTER series with his name attached. The plot of concerns a djinn, a wish-granting, evil genie entity who is released from a jewel and seeks to capture the soul of the woman who discovered him, thereby opening a portal and freeing his fellow djinn to inhabit the earth.

Robert Englund, who co-starred in WISHMASTER, was recently at the Emerald City Comic Con where he spoke of many things. While there, he made mention of WISHMASTER and voiced his opinion on the series saying:

“I knew that we were on to something original. I think the Wishmaster movies deserved a little more respect. It’s a great hook, and Andrew Divoff is terrific in those films. That great idea, it's something that we all know, that you have three wishes, what would they be, and what if you make the wrong wish? Or your wish was turned against you?

I thought it was just a great great hook… a great gimmick for a franchise. That unfortunately didn’t go far enough, I think. I think they should have waited a little longer, because I know how successful those guys are (KNG). I think there was probably at least one more to be made. Would’ve been really interesting.”

Here is the video of Englund’s appearance. The WISHMASTER discussion begins at around the 31:30 mark.
