News On IT Chapter 2 Within!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

The new adaptation of Stephen King's IT has been taking shape for long time now. The project is set to be presented in two separate films which is being produced by Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg. MAMA director Andy Muschietti was hired on to helm this new adaptation.

The new Pennywise has certainly gotten people talking. We just recently brought you some new imagery from the film as well as the official trailer which you will find down below.

Today we bring you word on the second planned film, IT: CHAPTER 2.

Producer Seth Grahame-Smith had this to say about the second installment:

“We are locked and loaded and ready to jump in the minute they say 'go'. The script is not done, but the script is being worked on. Obviously, we, all the filmmakers, are just champing at the bit to get started, and we have a very exciting shape, and [It co-writer Gary Dauberman] is working away.”
He adds:

“I feel somewhat optimistic that we'll get to make it, but there's been no official decision.”

Grahame-Smith spoke about how they had originally planned to make one three-hour film::

“When we came on over six years ago there was a draft that attempted to flash back and forth...To us, it was evident that you're never going to be able to service these characters and these moments if you try to cram it all into one movie. And then it's going to be weird, you know? You're flashing back and forth, which means that, well, what happens if the first movie comes out and tanks and you just never finish the story, period? That feels weird. To us, the best way to do it was to separate it out. That was a very early decision.”

Producer David Katzenberg chimed in with:

“To keep the integrity of the book and the story, it made the most sense to split it up.”

Writer Gary Dauberman had this to say:

“I never raised the issue of should we boil it all down into a three-hour movie because I just didn't think that was going to work. It wasn't ever even a conversation with me that anyone had.”
Well it looks like the gang is geared up and ready to get the second film going, just waiting on the official green light from Warner Bros./New Line, which will most likely happen.

IT: CHAPTER 2 description:

“Adapted from the second half of Stephen King's massive novel, IT Chapter 2 follows The Loser's Club's return to Derry after 27 years to put an end to Pennywise forever.”

The book was previously adapted by Tommy Lee Wallace as a 1990 two part, three hour event miniseries on ABC, starring Tim Curry as Pennywise.

Original Synopsis for IT:

"It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real… They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them back to Derry to face the nightmare without an end, and the evil without a name."

September 8th, 2017 is the current release date for Part 1 of the new adaptation of Stephen King's IT.
