Major News On Universal’s BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN Remake Within!

It was made known quite some time ago that Universal had decided to take it's Classic monsters and give them reboots. The studio recently recreated THE MUMMY and has had plans of bringing most all of it’s Classic monsters back to life on screen, with the idea of creating it's own universe to where characters can cross over from different films.

The next film in the Universal Dark Universe is to be BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN. Pre-production was underway in London and production was to officially begin in February, but the film has now been put on hold as changes are being made to the screenplay. The movie was scheduled for a February 14th 2019 release.

Director Bill Condon is to direct the upcoming BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN remake for Universal, should the movie move forward. Condon directed the live action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST movie, which passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office.

Condon has worked the Horror genre in the past with CANDYMAN: FAREWELL TO THE FLESH. He also directed THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN parts 1 and 2, and GODS OF MONSTERS.

Alex Kurtzman, along with Chris Morgan are the ones in charge of bringing the Universal Monsters back to life as the duo are executive producing the BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN film. David Koepp is in charge of the screenplay. It is unclear at this time if another writer is coming in to work on the changes that are causing the production to be on hold.

There were rumors going around that Universal was interested in having Angelina Jolie come on as director and star in the picture. It is uncertain if the studio is still wanting to have the actress take on the role or if she is still interested since she would not be directing.

Universal has been toying with the idea of remaking BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN for the last twenty years. Throughout the years many drafts have been written, including one by Anne Rice herself.
