News Regarding The Next HALLOWEEN Film!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

Some time ago the Horror World got some big news in that the new HALLOWEEN film is coming from Blumhouse, and they have acquired none other than the original Laurie Strode herself, Jamie Lee Curtis. We also learned that Judy Greer is likely to play Strode’s daughter. Director David Gordon Green and his writing partner Danny McBride ready for to create their new vision that is John Carpenter approved.

We recently learned that filming on the new HALLOWEEN film had been pushed back until mid-January.

Today we bring you some fresh word about the upcoming sequel as the Charleston City Paper quotes Danny McBride as saying:

“The original is all about tension. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) doesn't even know that Michael Myers exists until the last minutes of the movie. So much of it you're in anticipation of what's going to happen and the dread that Carpenter spins so effortlessly in that film, I think we were really trying to get it back to that. We're trying to mine that dread. Mine that tension and not just go for gore and ultra-violence that you see some horror movies lean on. To us, it was all about bringing back the creep factor and trying to find the horror in your own backyard, in our own homes.”

It is being said that the film will ignore all of the sequels, and this notion certainly has people really talking about next Fall, assuming that the project makes it’s slated date of release.

McBride previously revealed that the new HALLOWEEN film will introduce an alternate reality:

“We’re kind of ignoring all the films past the first one. It picks up after the first one, but it’s sort of an alternate reality. It’s as if the first Halloween ended in a slightly different way.”

On how scary the new HALLOWEEN will be:

“I think you should be very scared. I mean, this isn’t a comedy at all. I think there was, like, maybe one joke on the page, but the rest is straight horror. So hopefully it gets in people’s heads and keeps them up late at night.”

His thoughts on Jamie Lee Curtis:

“I think everyone was kind of on the mindset of it’d be a grab to get her, but no one really knew if we would be able to. So Dave and I just busted our ass on this script to really make that Laurie Strode character something she wouldn’t be able to say no to. When we finished the script, we sent it to her, and she said she was in. So we just flipped out. We were over the moon about her involvement.”

He then went on to speak about how much pressure it is to do this new HALLOWEEN film saying:

“I just hope that we don’t f*** it up and piss people off. This is such a diehard fan base. You don’t want horror fans being your enemies because they show up at your house with masks on. We are diehard fans of Halloween. We’re watching all the sequels and where things have taken left turns here and there that maybe bites for fans, and at least trying to deliver what we would have wanted to see. Hopefully, that will line up with most fans.”

Press Release:

"Universal Pictures will release Trancas International Films, Blumhouse Productions and Miramax’s HALLOWEEN on Friday, October 19, 2018.

Master of Horror John Carpenter will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity).
