A New BLADE Movie Is Coming!

Marvel made a big announcement in Hall H at Comic-Con revealing that Mahershala Ali will play Blade in a new movie.

Titled BLADE, the new movie was announced by Kevin Feige himself on the Hall H stage tonight in San Diego, and, according to Marvel.com, he was joined on stage by Mahershala Ali, who was revealed as the latest actor to play Blade, the half-vampire/half-human comic book character created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan for Marvel comics.

This will mark the first time that Blade has appeared in a live-action movie since Wesley Snipes played the character in 2004's BLADE: TRINITY, the third of three films in which Snipes played the title role (he also cameoed as Blade in the What We Do in the Shadows TV series). Portraying Blade with a blend of martial arts mastery, a haunted personality, and a cold-blooded slick style, Snipes made Blade an unforgettable character for a generation of moviegoers, and it will be interesting to see what Ali brings to the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
